This category is reserved, as its name suggests, to the artists not affiliated with any movement, and yet belonging to the whole wide phenomenon called by the collective name of Russian Avant-garde.
As you have seen in the above categories, many artists flowed in and out of forming and disbanding groups and movements, as they formed their own ways of expressing their artistic feelings, seeing, understanding, their creative growth. However, there were also many artists who never joined any group. Some participated in the Movements' and groups exhibitions, some only took part in the State organized shows.
After 1932, with the disbanding of all groups and Movements all such distinction has become seemingly "irrelevant".
