The Path of Painting

The Path of Painting - Put' Zhivopisi - Путь Живописи

1926 - 1930, Member list

The Path of Painting Movement in Moscow was organized by the former members of Makovetz which has fallen apart, and has therefore followed the same main artistic principles that group has followed. The group was organized by L.Zhegin and included T.Alexandrova, P.Babichev, V.Pestel and others.

The image solutions tended to be lyrical, chamber-like. The favorite genres - portraits, landscapes, interiors. "We seek art which is realistic not only in form, but both in form and in subject. We see a path to realization of such art in the balance between form and subject, or even in the indivisibility of these two concepts", states the group manifest. The painting is regarded as a "small self-sufficient mini-world, organically closed in itself".

The first exhibition has taken place in 1927 in Moscow.
