Issue 020, August 31st 2010

Hello to all Russian Avant-garde Gallery visitors and subscribers.

I can sincerely wish for you to never need "warranty support" at any PC labs, if you want to live longer. My laptop was finally returned to me, in a state which almost gave me white hairs; so after my own good technician friend has done his magic and I have reinstalled all the programs it is now as good as new. And my son was the happiest person about that, as he has received his own PC back into his exclusive use.

August is a month of many celebrations in the family: my son's 10th birthday, my nephew's 2nd and my father's jubilee, as well, to name some of them.

And, of course, in a few days we are entering the September holidays, so I wish you all a very Happy Year, may it flow as sweet as honey, filled with beauty and art and as many new revelations as there are seeds in a pomegranate.

So here are our Gallery's news.

Moving of the Website to a New Hosting

As I told you in the previous issue, the Russian Avant-garde Gallery has has outgrown the possibilities of the existing hosting service, and was hence moved to a new host in mid-month. I owe many thanks to the support team here for such a smooth migration, they are great, and to a young man far from home who recommended them to me.

I believe all technical moving issues connected with this change were overcome, but I urge any of you to contact me if they encounter a broken link or anything not working correctly, so I may fix it.

Archaeology Drawings and Judaica in Tatiana's section

This month I have added two new pages to my the Author's section. Until now her works were displayed only in Paintings and Illustrations categories. Now you may see some more of her more unusual work in these pages:

I have made a little introductory summary for each of the pages to share this part of her work and make it more easily understood.

Concept and Design Changes

I plan to make some changes on the website in order to make it more friendly and informative mostly for the uninformed in Russian Avant-garde.

There is no finalized plan yet, no dates are yet set to complete this stage, and I am sharing it with you at this early time to ask for your suggestions and ideas. Anything you suggest will be considered, so please do so.

To send me your suggestions you may use any of the following ways:

Your view and ideas may give me clues to how people see this from outside, what bothers them, what they would expect to see more, and guide me to incorporate things I may not have thought of myself. So I welcome any feedback from you.

Buying Books? Get Them Through The Gallery!

All of us art lovers thrive on books on the subject. Though we live in the age of the Internet, there is nothing that may quite replace the feel of a book in your hands, and leafing through it gives the eyes a rest from the endless screen hours. It is just... different.

I want to remind you to check out the categories for Recommended Books, Films and the one of Specialized Bookshops, where you may find many of the books out there by category, by artist, by movement - and see recommendations about them:

Your buying books, films, posters, calendars through the Gallery will also contribute to supporting of this website, which takes a lot of labour and time to develop and move forward. So do make use of the work invested in bringing the books to you.

If you know of a bookshop that will be interesting for the others - do tell me about it, and I will contact them and make sure it is represented here for everyone's benefit.

Like this website?

It takes a lot of time and labour to develop. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

As always, I would like to remind everybody to occasionally refresh the pages, due to the constant changes and additions on the website. This will ensure that you always see the latest version of the pages, and not the page cached (stored) on your computer from the last visit.

If you do not know how to do this - you can see instructions in the first issue of the newsletter. Or see your web browser help section.
