Biography:
After graduating from the Technical High School in St. Petersburg (1908), Le Dantiu studied at the Academy of Arts (1909-1912), which he has left finding the art training program unsatisfactory.
The artist was an active member of Union of Youth (1910-1911) in St. Petersburg.
Was a personal friend of the brothers K. and I.Zdanevich, and after moving to Moscow (1912) he became the leader in M.Larionov followers' group (N.Goncharova, V.Tatlin, V.Bart).
In 1912-1913 lived in Geogria, where he discovered Niko Pirosmani (Pirosmanashvili).
Mikhail Le Dantiu took part in exhibitions including the Union of Youth (Petersburg, 1910, 1911), "The Donkey's Tail" (Moscow, 1912), "The Target" (Moscow, 1913), "N4. Futurists, Rayonists, Primitive" (Moscow, 1914), and post mortem his work was exhibited in the 1-st State Exhibition of local and Moscow artists (Vitebsk, 1919), the 1-st State Exhibition of Art and Science (Kazan,1920), in Berlin (1922), and the Exhibition of Newest Movements in Art (Leningrad, 1927).
The young artist's successful career was cut short by his early death, but he has accomplished a lot both in the practical and theoretical fields. The artistic heritage of Le Dantiu is yet to be researched.
